Nighte Pickering is having a great 2024 thus far. He scored a goal against MLS side Atlanta United three minutes into the preseason. He scored what turned out to be the winner for Memphis 901 FC last Saturday in the season opener against the Las Vegas Lights (a strike that won USL Goal of the Week honors). And he has now been called-up to represent the US U19 National Team as they get set to play a pair of international friendlies.
“This is another fantastic step in Nighte’s career,” 901 FC Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell said. “We brought him in as a young 17-year-old after scouting a youth tournament and his progression has been brilliant. After starting one game in his first season, he has now appeared more than 35 times with numerous national team camps and a lot of interest abroad at the moment. We look forward to his continued progression within the national team setup.”
The international call-up is just the latest accomplishment for Pickering. He had several training stints with various US Youth National Teams in both 2022 and 2023. Since joining Memphis 901 FC he has scored eight goals and added three assists for good measure.
The US U19 National Team will play two games during the March window, both at the Morocco National Training Center in Rabat. The first one is against England on Sunday, March 24 and the second is against their Moroccan hosts on Tuesday, March 26. But he departs for international duty, Pickering still has a home game that 901 FC has confirmed he will be available for.
That game is tomorrow down at AutoZone Park against Indy Eleven with a 3pm kickoff. Tickets can be purchased online or at the AutoZone Park box office on the day of the game.
