BREAKING NEWS: Memphis Grizzlies Sign Vince Williams Jr. To Long Term Deal, Waive Bismack Biyombo
The Memphis Grizzlies announced Wednesday afternoon that the team was signing two-way wing Vince Williams Jr., to a three-year deal with a fourth year team option worth 7.9 million dollars. In tern, the Grizzlies had to free up a roster spot, and cut ties with Center Bismack Biyombo, who signed with the Grizzlies back on November 1st.
Williams Jr., the 47th pick in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft, and in his second season in Memphis has been the unsung hero of the Grizzlies bench unit this season. Logging 22 minutes a game, nearly six points per game, and there isn’t a statistic for his hustle on a nightly basis.
This move solidifies the Grizzlies wing depth, specifically this season, and into the future as well. Looking at it flip side, Memphis looses a veteran rebounding big man in Biyombo, who had struggled as of late, and even had a few “DNP – Coaches Decision.”
Now Memphis will ride with their current big men in Xavier Tillman, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Brandon Clarke – who is nearly a month away from returning from an achilleas tear last season.
