Memphis has landed yet another transfer in former Arkansas starting safety, Simeon Blair. Blair was a team captain and veteran leader for the Razorbacks in the defensive backfield.
Over the last three seasons Blair has started 22 games. Despite going to Fayetteville as a walk-on, Blair earned special teams’ reps as a redshirt freshman. He was put on scholarship during the 2020 season and finished the year with 23 tackles and two pass breakups.
The Pine Bluff native started nine games for the Razorbacks in 2021, and he started all 13 games in 2022. In his time with the Razorbacks Blair racked up 135 tackles and 11 pass breakups.
With the departure of Quindell Johnson, Blair has a very good shot at being a starter in the defensive backfield for the Tigers in 2023. Blair brings veteran leadership and experience that could help lessen the blow of losing Johnson.
Memphis has added three safety transfers since 2022 with Blair, Ohio State transfer Jaylen Johnson and Kentucky transfer Joel Williams. With the secondary additions Memphis’ secondary has the potential to be an even more improved unit next season.
