It was announced late Saturday evening that the longest tenured Memphis Grizzly Dillon Brooks was nearing a deal with the Houston Rockets via Shams Charania of The Athletic.
It was later announced that Brooks was signing a four-year $80 million contract with Houston per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
It was rumored that the Grizzlies would be featured in a sign and trade with Houston for Brooks, as part of the sign and trade, Memphis received Guard Josh Christopher from Houston in the deal.
Brooks, who has spent his entire career with the Grizzlies will be heading to a new home as he nears a deal with the Rockets following meeting with a hand full of teams over the last 24 hours featuring the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and finally the Rockets this afternoon.
Memphis gains a young wing in Josh Christopher, who played in 74 games for the Rockets last season averaging eight points per game in 18 minutes. In the deal, Memphis retains roughly $18 million in trade exception.
