GBBLive: How the Grizzlies will miss Brandon Clarke
The Memphis Grizzlies suffered a huge blow to the rotation when Brandon Clarke tore his achilles. On this episode of GBBLive — its debut under the Bluff City Media umbrella — I have Keith Parish aka Fastbreak Breakfast to talk about how they’ll miss their 6th man.
We also discuss how Clarke gave lineup optionality with the ability to go varying styles in the postseason, like a chess match. In the process, they lost a bonafide playoff rotation guy, leaving unproven postseason players in situations to rise to those moments.
Finally, we mourn over how we no longer get to see the lineup of Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, Brandon Clarke, and Jaren Jackson Jr. They had a net rating of +24.6 in 118 possessions together this season and was a frequent closing lineup for the Grizzlies the past two seasons. We go over potential options for a “Death Lineup” with the Grizzlies, if there’s even one anymore, while also pondering whether or not Taylor Jenkins should roll with some young guys (Ziaire Williams, David Roddy, Jake LaRavia) off the bench.
