The Memphis Grizzlies NBA 2K League Franchise Grizz Gaming begins 3v3 Slam Tournament play tonight following a promising showing in Slam Group Play last week.

Grizz Gaming had a 2-2 showing in group play to open up the season following a lot of hype. 2-2 play that lands them the 16th seed in the Slam Tournament and a matchup with 17th seed Utah Jazz Gaming tonight at 8:15 P.M. CT.

Everything you need to know heading into Slam Bracket Play:

Grizz Gaming had a slow start to group play in the Slam. Losing their first two series to Pacers Gaming and T-Wolves Gaming teams. With three days to bounce back, the Grizz did so with back-to-back thrilling series victories over the Mavs and Bucks Gaming teams. Led by Grizz Gaming Point Guard Vandi, the Grizz have found their stride heading into the first 3v3 tournament of the young 2K League season.

Vandi currently leads the 2K League in Points Per Game at 11.9, and looks to be moving like the Vandi that led Pacers Gaming to a Slam Championship two seasons ago. It’s not just Vandi however for Memphis, lockdown IcyThaGoat and big man OhDonn have been looking more and more comfortable in their new roles with the Grizz.

Looking ahead to Memphis’ first round matchup with Jazz Gaming, these two teams are supposed to be top 10 in the 3v3 scene this season. Just going off of what people have seen, and talent on the virtual hardwood, this isn’t going to be an easy first round matchup for the Grizz at all.

The Grizz will have to take what they can get early in games, and focus on consistency on the defensive end. The defensive end of the floor will be the biggest part of this series, as Memphis’ offense is already proven. The Jazz have some really good talent in Kaze, ForeverJustin, and Miamiers.

The Slam Tournament is double elimination, so a loss would mean that Grizz Gaming would move to the losers bracket, but a that’s the furthest thing from their minds heading into tonight. Memphis will be on the 2K League’s Alternate Twitch account tonight (Twitch.tv/nba2klalt1) at 8:15 against Jazz Gaming.
