With the NBA 2K League 3v3 format in the rear view mirror, all of the focus shifts to the next month and a half that lies ahead for Memphis Grizzlies 2K League affiliate Grizz Gaming.
Following an inconsistent 3v3 showing, Grizz Gaming made a huge move Monday afternoon trading for a NBA 2K League Champion. Bringing in Artreyo “DIMEZ” Boyd from Kings Guard Gaming.
The former number one overall pick in the inaugural 2K League Draft back in 2018, and 2K League Champion last season with Bucks Gaming, arrives in Memphis at a time where the roster could go either direction. During 3v3 play, it felt like a vocal veteran was need in Memphis for this team to find some consistency. Dimez, in his 7th 2K League season, makes this roster more appealing.
Positions one through five seem competitive with all 23 2K League teams now, and that’s given Memphis’ youth at the Point Guard spot. LikeCP played really well at times during the 3v3 format, and with Dimez being a former Point Guard, having Dimez in CP’s corner could pay huge not only for the rest of the season, but for CP’s future in the league.
This move happened ahead of the 2K League’s Annual “TipOff” event which (no pun intended) tips off the 5v5 portion of the NBA 2K League season. This is the second half of the season, and really the last opportunity for teams to really breakout on to the scene…oh, and make some money as well.
Grizz Gaming begins their journey tonight for $250,000, along with playoff position in the 5v5 playoffs. It won’t be easy at all for Grizz Gaming as they’ll face T-Wolves Gaming, DUX Infinitos, Kings Guard Gaming (twice), Lakers Gaming, and Blazer5 Gaming.
These are teams that are really talented, and with the Dimez trade it puts each Grizz Gaming player in a position to succeed on a consistent basis.
Grizz Gaming tips off all of their action tonight at 7:00 against T-Wolves Gaming on the NBA 2K League Twitch and Youtube channels.
