The Hustle battled out against the Rip City Remix for the first time this season, live from Portland, Oregon. Memphis came into the Sunday night showdown one game below the .500 mark looking to piece together their second straight win and continue to push for positioning with the G League playoffs being less than a month away.
Rip City, who was 13-9 coming into this matchup, was propelled by the play of former NBA lottery pick Kevin Knox II, who strung together 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists, being the leading scorer and rebounder on the evening. Antoine Davis added 16 points, and George Conditt IV tallied 14 to lead all Remix players in scoring in this matchup.
The Hustle played a very solid game and have now strung together back-to-back wins to place them back at the .500 mark with about a month left in the G League season. The Hustle started off with an early lead going into the half up seven and ended up watching it fizzle away in the third quarter, just to end up stunning Rip City by stealing the game after trailing them by 10 with about seven minutes left to play in the ball game. Deeky Jarreau stuffed the stat sheet as usual with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists; Michael Devoe also poured on 20 points to go along with five boards and four assists; and Davon Reed and Cameron McGriff both added on 19 points in the matchup. The team did a great job of hustling and being resilient on the evening, shooting 50% from the field, and even out-rebounded a well-sized Remix team by 17, a very pleasant surprise for a shorthanded Hustle team, especially when you factor in not having the size of Matthew Hurt.
The Hustle will once again be live from Portland on Monday night as they look to push their winning streak to three-straight games and lock in for a playoff spot. The tip will be live at 8:00 p.m. CDT.
