Matthew Hurt Signs Second 10-Day Contract with Grizzlies

Following the news that the team was waiving Jacob Gilyard… As well as signing Jordan Goodwin… The Memphis Grizzlies announced Monday the second signing of Matthew Hurt.

Sounds like a biblical epic doesn’t it? “The Second Signing Of Matthew Hurt”.

But I digress. All I’m referring to is the second 10-day contract Hurt is signing with the team. After appearing in three games before the All-Star break while on his first contract… He will return—once again—to Memphis’ active roster.

In his three appearances with the team earlier this season he averaged the following… In 18.7 minutes per games, 5.7 PTS, 2 REB, and a single AST. That’s fine.

His Hustle numbers? Now those are a bit better. Matthew’s been averaging 21.8 PTS, 7.3 REB, 1.6 AST and 1.7 BLK with the Huslte. That’s in 32.6 minutes per game on 53.8% shooting from the field and 42.1% from deep.

Now that’s against G-League levels of competition so—you know—take that with a grain of salt. But still, Hurt provides the Grizzlies with another body that knows the system… And who can play with these guys.

He’s proven he’s capable of both. So we’ll see if this second 10-day leads to even better results… And depending on how things shake out… A third 10-day? We’ll have to wait and see.

For now, we may see Matthew Hurt play as early as tonight against Brooklyn. Like I said. We’ll wait and see.
