901 FC continued to prioritize midfield depth with the addition of 27-year-old Emerson Hyndman earlier on Friday, coming just weeks after the transfer of Rodrigo da Costa to the club.
Hyndman brings plenty of experience to Memphis which started in the youth academy of his hometown club FC Dallas at age 14. His talents brought him to Europe where he joined Fulham in the Premier League before relocating to the Scottish Premiership. Hyndman returned to America in 2019, joining Atlanta United on loan.
“We’re delighted to add Emerson to our group,” Stephen Glass said. “Since coming in to train, he has enjoyed our environment and what we have to offer. To be able to add an international player with his experience to our roster is great for what we’re trying to do.”
This will be the second time Hyndman will be under Coach Glass’ management, as the midfielder was a regular starter during their shared time in Atlanta.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to join Memphis 901 FC and eager to start competing out there with the guys,” Hyndman said. “They have a lot of quality and I hope to contribute to the great season they’re putting together so far. I know Glassy from our time together at Atlanta United as well, so it seemed to be the perfect fit! Looking forward to getting on the pitch again.”
Hyndman has been signed for the rest of the 2023 season and will be available for selection on Saturday, June 10 as Memphis 901 FC travels to Lynn Family Stadium to take on Louisville City FC.
