3-Star OL Kobe Williams has had a busy 2023. In addition to an offer from Memphis in March, the 6’6” 310-pound lineman has garnered offers from the likes of Oregon, Missouri, Houston, and Liberty. Coming off a weekend visit to Houston, the highly coveted lineman announced a Final 3 of Memphis, Houston, and Arkansas State on Sunday and set a commitment announcement for Monday at 1:00 PM. Murmurs among the University of Houston fanbase seemed as if the Cougars were a favorite in Williams’s recruitment. Eyebrows were raised, however, and anticipation grew once Williams announced via Twitter he’d be moving back his commitment time to 2:30 PM.
Tuesday afternoon, Memphis added their second commitment in the big-time addition of the Amory, Mississippi native. According to 247Sports, Williams becomes the highest rated commitment in the 2024 Memphis recruiting class. Ryan Silverfield has expressed a desire to get bigger in the trenches and Williams’s size and skill certainly fits the bill. Williams will join Taccofah Lewis as the second offensive lineman and Mississippian in the 2024 class. Both have been lauded by scouts for their elite size and athleticism, and project as offensive tackles at the next level.
If you’re keeping up, Williams makes the seventh overall commitment in the 2024 class and the sixth commitment for the Tigers in the month of June.
