Memphis Grizzlies select Tarik Biberovic #56 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft

After sending out their 1st round pick at #25 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft as part of their acquisition of Marcus Smart, Memphis went for an upside swing at #45 when they selected GG Jackson out of South Carolina. Then, at #56, the Grizzlies went with a draft-and-stash selection.

Biberovic has a solid shooting stroke while also displaying some potential as a driver to the basket. As a player for Fenerbahçe Beko in Istanbul, Turkey, he averaged 10 minutes per game across 12 games played (2 started). He was not a major contributor, but he does show flashes of range and athleticism when checking out his highlights.

This selection will not impact the 2023-2024 NBA season. While GG Jackson figures in to the immediate future of the Grizzlies franchise somehow, Biberovic will not be coming to Memphis to play for the Grizzlies or the G-League Hustle. He will stay overseas. Biberovic may never play a minute for this team – but the Grizzlies now have his NBA rights if he does eventually try to come to the league.
