Another Tiger has gone one-and-done.
Sources confirm to Bluff City Media that guard Carl Cherenfant plans to enter the transfer portal. The 6-foot-5 freshman, who played in just 18 games this season, joins Jonathan Pierre and Jayhlon Young as the third Memphis player to join the open market this offseason. All three left the program after just one season. Cherenfant will arrive at his next destination with three years of eligibility remaining.
Head coach Penny Hardaway is also expected to lose Jahvon Quinerly, Nae’Qwan Tomlin, Caleb Mills, Jaykwon Walton, Jordan Brown, Jayden Hardaway and Malcolm Dandridge due to expired eligibility. This means the seventh-year coach must replace at least 10 players this offseason.
Forward Nick Jourdain, a rising senior, publicly announced his return to Memphis back in February. But sources have recently indicated that he’s still deciding his plans for next year. The Tigers can also bring back David Jones, Joe Cooper, Ashton Hardaway and Noah Stansbury. Four-star high school recruit Jared Harris is the program’s only incoming player as of now.
