With the losses of Javon Ivory, Eddie Lewis and Cameron Wright, it was a must for Memphis to add receivers in the transfer portal. Ryan Silverfield and the staff have received commitments from three receivers now with the addition of Marshall transfer Corey Gammage.
Gammage was the Thundering Herd’s leading receiver in 2022 with 52 receptions for 774 yards and six touchdowns. The wideout had a career-high in touchdowns last season after racking up 878 yards and 78 catches in 2021.
Not only does Gammage fill a position of need, but he also adds tremendous size for the Tigers. At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Gammage has no problem winning jump balls, but he is also dynamic after the catch for a player of his size.
As previously mentioned, Memphis has now added three transfer receivers with Gammage, Missouri transfer Tauskie Dove and Toldeo transfer DeMeer Blankumsee. It will be a new-look receiving corps for the Tigers in 2023, which is more than likely a positive thing.
