Earlier this month, Memphis tight end Caden Prieskorn decided he would stay at Memphis for the 2023 season. On Thursday, the star tight end changed his mind and entered his name in the transfer portal.
The Tigers finished the season 7-6 after a bowl win over Utah State on Tuesday, but the news of Prieskorn entering the portal puts a damper on the end of the season. In the win over the Aggies, Prieskorn had two receptions for nine yards and a touchdown. For the 2022 season, the tight end finished with 602 yards and seven touchdowns on 48 catches.
Without a doubt, Prieskorn was one of the top tight ends in college football and figured to be a fixture of the Tigers offense heading into 2023. Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield and the staff have done an exceptional job of keeping talent out of the portal, but Prieskorn is clearly a huge loss.
Anthony Landphere and Errington McRae seem like the most likely replacements, and the staff also just signed Hutchinson Community College tight end Jamauri Chislom.
