After taking a visit over the weekend, Middle Tennessee State transfer Teafale Lenard Jr announced on Monday that he has committed to the Memphis Tigers. With Lenard’s commitment, Penny Hardaway has now landed four transfer commits. Lenard joins Caleb Mills, Nick Jourdain and Jonathan Pierre as Memphis’ current transfer class.
During his sophomore season in 2022, Lenard averaged 8.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.6 steals per game. Despite his limitations shooting, Lenard is a highly sought after transfer due to his elite defensive skills. With his length and athleticism, Lenard effortlessly disrupts passing lanes and blocks shot with regularity.
Although he is only a sophomore Lenard played in 70 games as a Blue Raider so he brings experience to the Tiger roster at a young age.
Although he hasn’t developed as a consistent shooter yet Lenard has all the physical tools to be an effective offensive player within Penny Hardaway’s system.
