In quiet fashion, Memphis continues to add depth along the offensive line with the latest addition of Ole Miss offensive tackle transfer Falentha “Flip” Carswell. Rated a three-star prospect and the 53rd OT in the nation coming out of high school, Carswell initially signed with the Rebels over the likes of Miami, Oregon, and Georgia Tech. The 6’7”, 275 pound big man from Tennille, Georgia redshirted his freshman year at Ole Miss prior to entering the transfer portal on April 26th. With sophomores Jayden Williams and Micah Pettus looking to retain their starting positions down in Oxford, it’s relatively unsurprising for Carswell to look for a fresh start at a new school. He’ll join an increasingly deep OL room as one of several transfer portal additions for Memphis this off-season.
Ryan Silverfield and staff appear determined to restore the Memphis offensive line back to a place when it was mentioned among the best units in the country just a few years ago. An offensive line who at times struggled to protect Seth Henigan and open up holes in the running game in 2022 will be a position group of worth monitoring as Memphis begins fall camp in a few months.
