Memphis lands Arkansas punter transfer & three-star running back

After receiving a commitment from Hutchinson Community College tight end/fullback Jamauri Chislom on Sunday, Ryan Silverfield and the staff landed both a transfer and 2023 commit on Monday.

Three-star running back Raydrian McKneely chose the Tigers over offers from Florida Atlantic, Liberty and UAB among others.

The running back out of Denham Springs, Louisiana was named First-Team All-District following his senior season. Although he is currently unranked on 247Sports, McKneely is a three-star prospect on Rivals.

At 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds McKneely isn’t the biggest back, but he is very shifty and excels at running outside the tackles. McKneely is currently the only running back commit for the Tigers, and his commitment brings Memphis to No. 52 overall according to Rivals.

Also, the Tigers were able to convince Arkansas punter transfer Reid Bauer to commit. Bauer has seen a ton of playing time in his career as he’s appeared in 48 games since the 2018 season.

In those 48 games, Bauer has averaged 42 yards per punt, including a career-high 44.6 yards per punt during the 2022 season. The transfer was also the primary holder for the Razorbacks, and he won the Peter Mortell Holder of the Year Award in 2021. Bauer joins former Kentucky and Georgia Tech offensive lineman RJ Adams and former East Tennessee State linebacker Chandler Martin as the Tigers third transfer thus far.
