Thursday hasn’t been a good day for Memphis, plain and simple. The Tigers lost both tight end Caden Prieskorn and defensive lineman Cam’Ron Jackson to the transfer portal within minutes of each other.
Fortunately, Ryan Silverfield and the staff may have already added Jackson’s replacement. During the same time Jackson made his announcement, Memphis signed former Texas A&M defensive lineman Adarious Jones.
At 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, Jones isn’t quite as big as Jackson, but he still has elite size. Jones played sparingly in 2022, but he was a solid rotational player for the Aggies in 2021. During the 2021 season, Jones had 12 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks.
Coming out of Bishop Sullivan in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jones was a three-star prospect. The defensive lineman was ranked as the No. 499 overall player and No. 35 overall defensive tackle. The loss of Jackson certainly stings, but the addition of Jones softens the blow.
