What Memphis Football gains in latest commit James Rexroat
On Wednesday, the Tigers added their ninth commitment of the 2024 recruiting class in Republican (MO) TE James Rexroat. After receiving an offer from Memphis in April of this year, Rexroat made his commitment official on social media, choosing the Tigers over offers from Arkansas State, UT Martin, and Murray State.
Rexroat will enter his senior season looking to build on a stellar junior campaign where he recorded 25 catches for 604 yards and 9 touchdowns. Averaging an impressive 24.16 YAC, he’s an undoubted big play threat at the high school level.
Measuring 6’4″, 235 pounds, Rexroat serves as a big target in the middle of the field. His ability to highpoint the ball over smaller defensive backs particularly stands out on game film. With great size, his high school coaches often use him as a run blocker, which creates an opportunity for him to slip out and make a big play downfield.
Ryan Silverfield and staff have a vision to add size and athleticism to the roster in the 2024 class. Like several other recent commitments, Rexroat is a multisport athlete with great potential for future development.
While he’s currently unranked, look for Rexroat’s national recognition to grow throughout his senior season. Memphis RB commit MaKari Bodiford recently went from unranked to one of the highest-rated players in Memphis’ 2024 class. Arrington Maiden, Tyrell Marshall, Cyrus Reyes are also Memphis commits that have been recently ranked on recruiting platforms since pledging to the Tigers.
