On the Bluff Episode 4: Can Memphis Go 3-1 Against SEC Opponents?
In this week’s episode, co-hosts Christian Fowler and Gabe Kuhn discuss the upcoming stretch of games against quality SEC opponents, specifically No. 11 Auburn and No. 8 Alabama. Christian and Gabe discuss the Tigers’ chances of winning both of those games and what good showings for the Tigers will do for their resume at the end of the year heading into the NCAA Selection Sunday.
Gabe shares how Kendric Davis’s addition this year has helped unlock senior guard Alex Lomax’s game this year. Alex has emerged as a potent third option for the Tigers and they are leaning heavily on his play this year. Kendric’s play this year has allowed for Alex to not have to lead the offense this year and has freed him up to play staunch defense and get the ball to areas where he can facilitate or make buckets.
In the second segment, Christian and Gabe transition to the Servpro First Responders Bowl matchup between the Memphis Tigers and Utah State Aggies. The Tigers are expected to win this game and the guys discuss how important this game is for the culture of Tiger football. The discussion then turns to the transfer portal and recruiting for the Tigers. Christian describes the identity that the Tigers are hoping to build through recruiting and the transfer portal and the commitments that have come in so far this offseason.
To end the episode, Christian and Gabe share their thoughts on the Heisman Trophy finalist list, college football coaching changes, and much more.
