Moments after star tight end Caden Prieskorn entered the transfer portal, defensive lineman Cam’Ron Jackson made the same announcement. Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield and the staff didn’t lose many top contributors leading up to the bowl game, but they have now lost two of the top players on the roster.

At 6-foot-6 and 340 pounds, Jackson was a monster in the middle of Memphis’s defense this year. Jackson played a rotational role in his first two seasons in the Bluff City, but he became a full-time starter in 2022.

In 13 games this season, Jackson had 41 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack. The defensive tackle was unquestionably one of the Tigers most important defensive players, and he would’ve been a major piece in 2023.
