Florida CB Tyrell Marshall Joins a Growing Memphis ’24 Recruiting Class
When Ryan Silverfield and staff turned their calendars to the month of June, the Tigers had only one commit in the 2024 recruiting class. Since then, the Tigers’ commitment list has swelled to five with the addition of Navarre, Florida defensive back Tyrell Marshall on Monday. Receiving an offer from Memphis less than a month ago, Marshall visited the Memphis campus this past weekend, and like other commitments in the 2024 class, the Memphis coaching staff was able to quickly close on the deal. The 6’0” 170-pound senior announced his commitment to Memphis over the likes of UAB, Arkansas State, and Liberty. Marshall’s commitment continues a small streak of recruiting success in the North Florida panhandle. Ryan Silverfield has lured multiple recruits from his home state since taking over as head coach in 2019.
A look a Marshall’s film from 2022 shows an ability to come up in run support or drop back in coverage of a streaking receiver. He is a sure tackler with a knack for creating turnovers. His stop and go speed makes him a constant threat to jump passing routes and he hints at a solid ability to diagnose a play before the snap. It will be interesting to see if Memphis picks up its recruitment of Marshall’s brother, Terence Marshall, who is a highly coveted WR prospect with multiple P5 offers.
The Memphis Football program prides itself on finding hidden gems on the recruiting trail, and the coaching staff feel as if they have found another future solid contributor with the addition on Marshall.
