Former Nova Southeastern star Jonathan Pierre commits to Memphis after visit
Memphis has officially landed its third player out of the transfer portal. Former Nova Southeastern (Division 2) forward Jonathan Pierre has joined FSU transfer Caleb Mills and Temple transfer Nick Jourdain in the Tigers’ transfer class following a visit over the weekend.
Although Pierre is coming from a D2 school, he has been an extremely coveted player since he entered the portal. Over 120 programs reportedly reached out Pierre after he entered the portal, including LSU, Duke, Oklahoma and Auburn.
Pierre’s only offer coming out of high school was from Nova Southeastern, but it was likely because his massive jump in height. Pierre hit a huge growth spurt, and he said it was like having a completely new body.
During his sophomore season, Pierre figured it out. Last year, he averaged 14.5 points and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 40.5 percent from three.
