After flashing a gun in a late-night video on Instagram Live, Ja Morant was deemed “away from the team for at least two games.” He also put out a statement apologizing for his actions, while expressing his need and desire to improve his well-being and his stress management:

In Taylor Jenkins’ pregame availability with the media before tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers, he said they couldn’t provide a timetable on Morant’s return to the team — moving the status from “at least two games” to “indefinitely.”

Taylor Jenkins also put out a statement regarding all the news around Ja Morant for the past 48 hours:

Jenkins demonstrated a balance between support and accountability with his pregame statement, and that’s what Morant needs at this time. Morant expressed he’s seeking help and wants to improve, while also recognizing his transgressions. It’s going to take support and accountability from his loved ones and his support circle during this process — and he has an entire with Memphis supporting him through this time as well.

On the timetable, “at least two games” always felt too short. Even if his absence is lengthy, it’ll be super beneficial for Morant and his growing process here.

More will come out on this Ja Morant story as the league is still investigating all that transpired on Friday night. Bluff City Media will provide those updates as we get them.
