Hurt has previously been signed and waived by the Grizzlies twice over the past two seasons, and this will be his first official stint with the team in-season as well as his official NBA debut. Hurt spent two years at Duke before declaring for the 2021 NBA Draft, where he ultimately went undrafted before signing a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets, where he was waived right before training camp and was signed to the Memphis Hustle soon after. He will be immediately available for the Monday night matchup versus the Sacramento Kings.
