The Beale Street Boys have learned how they will begin their preseason.
Memphis 901 FC will travel to Athens, Georgia to take on Atlanta United of MLS on Saturday, February 3. The game will be played at Turner Soccer Stadium, home of the University of Georgia women’s soccer team (who just this year advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament.)
Over the years, Atlanta United has played several lowers division teams during preseason, including both Chattanooga FC and Birmingham Legion. Those games have usually been played at the home of the lower division side, however. No doubt many Memphis 901 FC fans will be hoping for a return trip to Memphis from Atlanta United during the preseason in 2025.
Of course, Memphis 901 FC has played Atlanta United before. During last season’s US Open Cup, the Beale Street Boys went on the road and knocked out the 2019 champions by a score of 2-1. After falling behind early, Philip Goodrum converted a penalty in second half stoppage time before Nighte Pickering scored the winner in extra time in what ranks as one of the biggest wins in 901 FC history.
The first home game of the year for 901 FC is the USL Championship season opener on Saturday, March 9 against the Las Vegas Lights down at AutoZone Park with another home game the next weekend against Indy Eleven.
Fans can now purchase 2024 season ticket packages but will have to wait until the season draws closer before single game ticket information is released.
