Memphis 901 FC To Host Open Practice
On Thursday, Memphis 901 FC announced that the team will host their third annual Open Community Training event. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, May 23 at 6pm out at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. The open practice falls just two days before the next 901 FC home game on Saturday, May 25 against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds down at AutoZone Park (tickets on sale), which will be a post-game fireworks night according to the team’s website (a first in 901 FC history).
“We created this event two years ago as a way to make our players and club more accessible to the local soccer community,” said 901 FC Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell. “The event is a great way for the children and fans in our community to get a chance to watch a real training session and interact with players. We encourage everyone to share this with their friends and join us May 23 for another great evening of soccer”
The event is open to all who wish to attend. Those who do are invited to observe a full training session. Following that they will be able to join players on the field for both picture and autographs, while any youth players in attendance will have an opportunity to participate in drills with their favorite 901 FC player.
Fans who attend the event can also enter a contest to win a 4-top table experience at the aforementioned home game against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on May 25. In addition to the 4-top table experience, fans can also enter to win a 2024 Memphis 901 FC game jersey signed by the players.
As the team attempts to garner more attention in the local community, many fans will no doubt be glad to see the open practice back for another year. Last year’s open practice was a tremendous success. Held at the Snowden Grove Soccer Complex in Southaven last August, the event drew over 700 youth players.
Before the Beale Street Boys have their open practice they do have a pair of road games to play. The first is this Saturday away to Monterey Bay (kickoff at 9pm CT on WMC 5.3 and ESPN+) followed by a trip to take on the El Paso Locomotive on Friday, May 17 (kickoff at 8pm CT on WMC 5.3 and ESPN+).
