Seven games remain in Memphis 901 FC’s 2024 regular season. Seven games are left to navigate as 901 FC looks to earn a playoff berth for the fourth straight year. Four of the seven are at home, which is good news for the Beale Street Boys, as every remaining game is of the utmost importance. Just two points separate Memphis, in 5th place with 39 points, from 2nd place Sacramento Republic with 41 points. However, only nine points separate Memphis from Orange County and falling out of the playoff picture entirely. Every game and every point matters as Memphis 901 FC returns home for a date with the Hartford Athletic.

It’s been a while since Memphis 901 FC was at home. The last home game for the Beale Street Boys was a 2-0 win against FC Tulsa way back on August 17th. They followed that up with two games on the road. The first was a 1-1 draw against the Oakland Roots where Panos Armenakas scored a Goal of the Week to help the Beale Street Boys secure a point on the road. The next game was just four days later in the altitude of Colorado Springs where things did not go as well. Memphis fell behind early and the conceded again in the first six minutes. They halved the deficit but then Samuel Careaga was sent off for being cautioned and shown a second yellow card. It went from bad to worse as 901 FC conceded a third goal and then had Marlon Santos sent off and shown a red card.

The good news for Memphis 901 FC is that they have had some time off to recover. That game in Colorado Springs was on Wednesday, August 28. That means the players will have had a full two weeks of rest by the time tonight’s game against Hartford kicks off. It’s rest that they will definitely welcome as they gear up for the final seven regular season games and push for a fourth straight playoff appearance.

Hartford may currently be on the outside of the playoff places and looking in, but coming into this game against 901 FC, they’re playing very well. They are unbeaten in four straight games and seven of their last eight. In fact, their only loss since mid-July was a 3-0 stinker on the road against Rhode Island FC. Perhaps most impressive during this run was a 2-1 against first placed Louisville City, who is the only team in the league thus far to have clinched a playoff spot. They have eight games remaining on their schedule and are just five points out of the playoff places. No doubt they will be playing with desperation tonight at AutoZone Park.
