Memphis lands former Oklahoma defensive lineman Josh Ellison
After entering the portal in early December, former Oklahoma defensive lineman Josh Ellison committed to Memphis on Monday. Ellison appeared in 36 games over three years for the Sooners, and he had 44 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.
Prior to his career in Norman, Ellison was the No. 8 overall JUCO prospect and No. 2 overall defensive tackle in the 2020 class. In one season at Blinn College, Ellison had 29 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss.
Ryan Silverfield and the staff have placed a premium on both the offensive and defensive line this offseason which should pay dividends during the 2023 season. In the offseason, they’ve added Ellison, Texas A&M transfer Adarious Jones, FAU transfer Jaylen Joyner and JUCO prospect Derick Hunter among others.
