Memphis Showing “Strong” Interest in Top 2025 Guard
After an excellent performance at the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Showcase last weekend, 2025 G Kayden Edwards has seen his recruitment start to pick up. Edwards is currently hearing from Memphis, Arkansas, Tennessee, TCU, Texas and many others, per 24/7 High School Hoops on Twitter. MadeHoops ranked him at #38 in the class of 2025; however, I expect him to finish much higher in the rankings.
Memphis’ staff has reportedly been in contact with 2025 G Kayden Edwards since the beginning of his sophomore season at Duncanville High School (TX) in 2022, a source tells me. Edwards recently shared his thoughts with me on Memphis’ recruitment of him thus far.
“Memphis is all about relationships. I have a really good relationship with Coach Penny and Coach Faragi, and it’s all love from them. I’m still exploring my options, as my recruitment is still ongoing. But no matter where I go, it’s all love for [Memphis],” Edwards told me in a conversation. Edwards is a high-character person, who would greatly benefit from the coaching staff’s development and experience at the next level.
Edwards is now a junior at Duncanville, where he looks to build off of his insanely productive EYBL season. In the 2023 EYBL season, Kayden Edwards currently averages 18.0 PPG, 2.5 RPG and 2.2 APG for Pro Skills. Edwards is an elite scorer who plays effectively off-ball. His best attribute is his shooting, where he shoots at a 44.6% clip through EYBL on 112 attempts. He is a good movement shooter and can effectively score at all three levels. He has a 69% EFG% off of the catch and shoots 54.4% EFG% off of the dribble during the 2023 EYBL season.
I expect Memphis to be in a great position for Kayden Edwards when he makes his commitment in the future.
