Checking in on the Tigers’ #Untamed24 Recruiting Class
While the Memphis Tigers enter the last month of the regular season, many members of its 2024 recruiting class have either concluded their final games at the high school level or are gearing up for state playoff competition. Prior to the start of the Tigers’ season, the #Untamed24 class garnered a lot of attention throughout the Memphis fanbase, especially after a strong month in June when seven of the Tigers’ 15 commits made their verbal pledges official. While Ryan Silverfield and company still have their sights set on an AAC Conference Championship appearance, it won’t hurt to take a peek at what the Tigers may hopefully add to their roster as soon as January 2024. In this article, we’ll review some of the top recruits on the Memphis 2024 commitment list to see who Tiger fans should get excited about leading up to National Signing Day.

3-Star LB Jamison Curtis — Saraland High School (AL) (9-0)
Coming off their first-ever Alabama State Championship in 2022, Jamison Curtis and the Saraland Spartans grabbed national attention in an opening game overtime thriller against Lipscomb Academy on ESPN. In that game, Curtis recovered a fumble and scrambled 80 yards to score a defensive touchdown. As of this writing, the 6’1″ 215-pound linebacker from the Mobile area has 61 total tackles on the year with 15 tackles for loss. He additionally has two sacks and seven quarterback hurries to go along with two blocked punts and a forced fumble. The 36th nationally-ranked Spartans will look to bring home the second state championship in program history at season’s end, but they’ve got one game remaining in the regular season before the playoffs commence against McAdory High School on November 10th.
3-Star ATH Kamore Harris — B.B. Comer High School (AL) (10-0)
A two-way player at the Alabama Division 2A level, Kamore Harris has put up video game numbers in his senior season at B.B. Comer High School. The former 2A Alabama Back of the Year has logged a staggering 79 carries for 1,175 yards (14.9 yards per rush) and 21 rushing touchdowns. He’s additionally recorded 4 receptions for 169 yards and two touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Harris currently has 55 total tackles, three TFLs, and one sack on the year. The 6’1″ 235-pound linebacker has also recorded two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception for the Comer Tigers’ defense. With the help of Harris, the Tigers have already obtained just their seventh 10-win season in program history. They’ll look to bring home their first-ever state championship trophy in late December.
3-Star RB Makari Bodiford — Walton High School (GA) (9-0)
Walton High School in Georgia has proven to be a great pipeline for the Memphis Football program. After gifting the Tigers with current sophomore running back Sutton Smith, the 13th nationally-ranked Raiders appear to be sending another talented running back to the 901. An early Memphis fan favorite, Makari Bodiford was among the first additions to the Tigers’ 2024 recruiting class. Since his commitment, the 6’0″ 205-pound playmaker has recorded 68 carries for 550 yards (8.1 yards per carry) and 13 touchdowns for the undefeated Raiders. Splitting reps with fellow senior running back Austin Williams, Bodiford has additionally shown flashes out of the backfield with 5 receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown. Walton High School concludes its regular season tonight with a matchup against Wheeler High School. In addition to the national recognition, the Raiders sit atop the rankings in Georgia 7A Region 5.
3-Star QB Arrington Maiden — College Station High School (TX) (9-1)
In June, the Tigers continued their Texas-to-Memphis quarterback pipeline when Arrington Maiden selected Tim Cramsey’s offense over a host of other American Athletic Conference schools, including UTSA, Tulane, and North Texas. After coming up short in the 2022 Texas 5A-DI State Championship game, the 6’2″ 200-pound gunslinger has put up some impressive stats in an attempt to wheel his team back for another shot at a trophy in 2023. Through 10 games, Maiden has gone 146-for-215 passing for 2,106 yards and 24 touchdowns. He’s thrown only five interceptions in a pass-happy offense and holds a 127 QB rating on the season. The Cougars look to have a great chance at another shot at the state title game, sitting fifth overall in the Texas Division 5A-1 standings. Maiden and College Station conclude their regular season tonight against Hendrickson High School.
3-Star WR Brady Kluse — Harrison High School (GA) (7-3)
Another commitment during the Tigers’ strong recruiting cycle in June was Georgia wide receiver Brady Kluse. A prospect that WR coach Larry Smith and staff got involved with early in the 2024 recruiting process, watching Kluse’s highlight reel will get Tiger fans excited for his future potential at Memphis. In his senior season, Kluse has had another strong statistical output at Harrison High School. The big-bodied receiver has proven to be the focal point of the Hoya’s offense, hauling in 52 receptions for 709 yards (13.6 yards per catch) and 8 touchdowns through 10 games. Kluse and the Hoyas concluded their regular season last week and they’ll face off with former Tiger Dylan Parham’s Carrollton High School next week.
3-Star OL Kobe Williams — Amory High School (MS) (8-1)
The top-rated recruit in the Memphis recruiting class has a college-ready body and is logging another stellar year in his senior season down in Mississippi. The 6’5″ 310-pound offensive lineman was recently selected to represent his home state in the prestigious Mississippi-Alabama All-Star game next month, but he’s not quite finished playing for the Amory Panthers. Sitting at 8-1 on the year, Williams has helped pave the way for an Amory offense that’s averaging 33 points per game. In their eight victories this season, the Panthers have defeated their opponent by an average of 26 points. They host Kosciusko High School tonight in the first round of the Mississippi 4A state playoffs. Williams will look to lead Amory to their first state championship since 1998.
3-Star DL Kavion Benton — Southwind High School (TN) (10-0)
The most recent commitment to the 2024 Tigers’ recruiting class heads up one of the most daunting defenses in all of Tennessee high school football. Helping the Southwind High School Jaguars hold their opponents to an average of 6 points per game, Kavion Benton has recorded 44 total tackles, 15 TFLs, and 6 sacks on the season. Southwind, the top-rated team in Tennessee 5A, hosts Springfield High School tonight in the first round of the state playoffs.
3-Star DE Jalen Charles — Manvel High School (TX) (5-5)
Jalen Charles has an argument for the most impressive senior season among current Tiger commitments. The Houston area senior has recorded an astounding 75 total tackles with 26 TFLs through 10 games. A pass rush specialist, he’s additionally logged 13 sacks and 31 quarterback hurries on the season along with two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, and an interception. Just this week, the 6’4 230-pound defensive end found himself in the middle of social media discussion as a potential candidate for Southeast Texas High School Football Player of the Year. Manvel High School concluded their regular season last night with a 42-7 victory over Terry High School.
3-Star LB Nate Thomason — Helena High School (AL) (8-2)
A rather quiet late summer addition, Thomason has had a monster senior year worth paying attention to. The 6’3″ 210-pound linebacker from Helena, Alabama has recorded 91 total tackles, 21 TFLs, three sacks, and an interception through nine games in a very competitive 6A classification in Alabama. Each year, Memphis seems to locate late risers within the recruiting rankings, and after the season Thomason has had, Tiger fans could very well see his stock rise as we near National Signing Day. The Huskies ended the regular season last night as the second-ranked team in 6A Region 3. They’ll square off with Wetumpka High School next week in the first round of the Alabama state playoffs.
