Memphis Lands Top 2024 Guard

Early Monday morning, HC Penny Hardaway and Memphis landed a commitment from 2024 4-star guard Jared Harris. Harris is the first commitment of the 2024 class for Memphis, who are strongly pursuing 4-star wing Billy Richmond and 4-star guard Curtis Givens as well. Outside of Harris, those two players are the biggest priorities left for Memphis in the Class of 2024, as Memphis looks to fill the rest of next years’ roster through the transfer portal.

Scouting Report

Here’s an anonymous college scout’s take on Harris’ game:

“Harris is a great athlete, who has the ability to jump with almost anyone. He’s a really shifty scorer, who can get to his spots. He has a good pull-up game in the midrange. On defense, he relies on his athleticism, as his defensive instincts improve. He’ll fit in well in [Memphis’] offense because he’s a really good slasher.”

Big Month of September

Harris is a good pickup for Memphis, as they look to have a successful month of September on the recruiting trail with the upcoming official visits for Richmond and Givens. Richmond is set to visit September 29 – October 1, while Givens is set to visit September 22-24.
